Changes

There used to be a doctor's surgery at the corner of Oldham Road and Varley Street. It was a big three-story house, and then the Family Service Unit took it over. They had two floors of it. My friend and I used to do the cooking.

Further up, towards New Cross was St George's Church and Rectory. I've got one of the vases off the altar there. The other one is on my mum's grave. I would never part with that vase.

I did my training as a playschool worker at Holland Street School in 1978/79.

I've lived in the same row ever since 1967. I've seen loads of changes.

My partner was called William Poyning. He died in 1976, when he was 71. He was seventeen years older than me. He was born over Mason's lino shop, in Ancoats.
