Impressions of our area The Have Your Say team worked in partnership with various youth groups operating in the area; for example, the Discus Young People's Project and The Ancoats and Miles Platting Youth Action Project (AMP) and a variety of older people, groups and residents, to produce content for this booklet. Training workshops were arranged using a variety of media such as Word processing, proof reading, editing, mini disc training, interviewing skills and techniques. Collecting the content for this project has been a long process but we hope you agree that it has produced some good results. We were trying to find out the differences in attitudes, affluence etc. between young people now and people who were young around fifty years ago. We wanted to know how the area had changed regarding housing, schools, amenities and such like. We also wanted to find out what people in each of the age groups thought about each other. I.e. whether the older people felt threatened etc. or whether the young people thought of the older people as moaners. In an attempt to break down barriers between the different age groups, this project is continuing for a further year, in which time, we are aiming at getting the two sections of the community working together and it is hoped that another booklet will be produced at the end of the project.
