The Now & Then Project, funded by the Big Lottery, was a two-year Have Your Say project that ended in May 2006. The aim of the project was to break down barriers between young and older people living in the area.
We often hear older people say they don't like going to local shops in the evening because there is often a crowd of youngsters hanging about, they sometimes feel threatened just because the youngsters are in a 'gang'.
On the other side of the coin we hear younger people say, that they can't have any fun because a lot of old people don't like them making a noise and they always 'moan' at them, even if they are only having a laugh with each other.
So the aim of the project was to get both age groups to meet each other on common ground. We at Have Your Say Magazine decided this would be achieved; by working separately with each age group at first then holding events where all the people involved young and old alike could meet, mingle and even talk to each other if they wished to!
This website shows off the fantastic work produced during the project.
